Grace M. Huntley

Grace M. Huntley, age 79, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton. A prayer service will be 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend David Wildermuth officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Grace M. Huntley was born June 4, 1939, in Yankton, South Dakota to C.B. and Velma (Lamborn) Gunderson. She spent the first few years of her life in Fairfax, South Dakota and then moved back to Yankton. She graduated from Yankton High School in 1957. She married Jerry Huntley on November 28, 1959 in Luverne, Minnesota. They moved back to Yankton and Grace worked various jobs in Yankton but mostly at Charlie’s Pizza House, Boomer’s Lounge, and Cork N Bottle. Grace was a quiet, friendly, hardworking woman who was very dedicated to her job and knew all of her customers. She enjoyed sewing, ironing clothes, and created beautiful cross-stitch work. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Huntley of Yankton; granddaughter, Kelsey (Jordan) Jenkins of Williston, North Dakota; two brothers: John (Karen) Gunderson of Gayville, South Dakota and Eric (Fran) Gunderson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sister, Judy Shattuck of Yankton; very best friend, Marilyn (Roger) Huntley of Yankton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.B. and Velma Gunderson; son, Kelly Huntley and brother-in-law, Bill Shattuck. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the charity of your choice.
