Gloria E. Meeker, age 78, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton with Reverend Rick Slattery officiating. Entombment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers are Daryl Miller, Dave Jorgenson, Inez Jorgenson, Christopher Meeker, Michael Meeker Jr., and Nathan Meeker. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gloria E. Meeker was born November 21, 1939, in Murdo, South Dakota, to Anton and Dena (Radamaker) Van Zitteren. She grew up and attended school in Yankton. She married Charles E. Meeker on July 28, 1958 in Yankton. They moved to Elk Point, South Dakota for a few years and Gloria worked at a café in Vermillion. They moved back to Yankton and Gloria went to work for MTron which she continued for over 40 years. She then began working at EPI for the next 8 years. Gloria enjoyed working on her plastic canvas and playing with her sweet little baby Snowball. She loved animals and especially loved being with her family. Survivors include her six children: Susan Meeker of Yankton; Pam Meeker of Yankton; Cindy Myers of Yankton; Ernest Meeker of Palm Springs, California; Mary Galanda of Yankton; and Charles Meeker Jr. of Yankton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Delsey Rishel of North Platte, Nebraska and Loretta Colton of Crossville, Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband for 50 years, Charles Meeker, Sr.; grandson, Daniel Myers; four sisters and one brother.
