Frank William Potts was born April 30, 1928, in Welcome, Minnesota, to Royal and Nellie (Crawford) Potts. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota. He married Emma Lou Randall on September 20, 1947 in Trimont. After their marriage Frank continued to farm with his father, did custom baling and also worked with area farmers. He then went to work on the Fort Randall Dam project in Pickstown, South Dakota. They then moved to Newton, Iowa, where Frank worked in the Maytag factory and also continued his love of farming. In 1958, they moved to Yankton, South Dakota, where Frank farmed and did custom combining from Kansas to North Dakota for several years. He retired in 1995. Frank was a hardworking farmer who was very innovated and in many ways ahead of his time. He was always looking for ways to improve equipment and farming practices, and was an early investor in ag processing plants. He was always willing to help his neighbors or anyone in need, he never met a stranger and loved talking to people and having coffee with his friends. But most of all he loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Emma Lou Potts of Utica, South Dakota; daughter, Patricia (Mark) Hunhoff of Volin, South Dakota; two grandsons: Darin (Heather) Hunhoff of Lakeville, Minnesota and Kevin (Jill) Hunhoff of Utica, South Dakota; five great grandchildren: Nathan, Hannah, Zachary, Kaden and Molly Hunhoff; three sisters: Marion Mattsen, Joyce Rethmeier and Violet Schliesman; brother, Jim Potts; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rosemary and two brothers, Charles and Ron.
