Floyd G. Williams, age 80, of Tyndall, South Dakota, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota.
No formal services are planned for Floyd. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
Floyd was born June 24, 1944 in Florence, Arizona to Floyd and Myrtle (Sides) Williams. He lived in several different places growing up and settled in California for several years where he worked as a mechanic on race cars. Floyd moved to Yankton in 1970 and worked at Morgen Manufacturing as a machinist for over 25 years. He then drove truck for Premium Best and also worked in maintenance at Sacred Heart Hospital. Floyd eventually bought his own semi-truck and trailer and drove for Joe Sparks until he retired. Floyd was a great mechanic and loved working on cars and building engines. He enjoyed racing cars and riding motorcycles. Floyd also enjoyed fishing and hunting and would reload his own ammo. He could fabricate anything and fix everything. Floyd was a down to earth, cool guy who will be greatly missed.
Floyd is survived by six children: Laurie (Rod) Wiedmeier of Mission Hill, SD, Lonnie Williams of Tyndall, SD, Tammy McCloud of Yankton, Dawn Williams of Springfield, SD, Shon Williams of Yankton, and Natalie (Edward) Reynolds of Surprise, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a sister, Martha (Paul) Wadlington of El Dorado, AR; and many nieces and nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen and Barb.
