Florence (Schramm) Lee, age 91, of Lincoln City, Oregon and formerly of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017 with her children by her bedside.
Memorial services are 2:00 PM, on April 7, 2018 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Pastor Erika Lehmann officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Florence was born February 26, 1926 on a farm near Lesterville, SD to Edward and Helen (Hladky) Schramm. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton as an infant. The family lived in the Lesterville and Utica area and then moved to a farm near Menno, SD. They moved to Yankton in 1944 and Florence graduated from Yankton High School in 1945. She married Arnold Lee on June 14, 1947. She worked at Johnson Bakery, Gurney’s Seed and Nursery and then Northwestern Bell for about four and a half years. Florence was transferred to Sioux Falls as a telephone operator. After the twins were born, they moved back to the Gayville area and later moved to a farm north of Yankton. Florence was a farm wife, mother, gardener, member of Sons of Norway and Yankton Garden Club. She also worked at the Human Services Center in Yankton as a certified medication aid for many years until her retirement. Florence and Arnold moved to Kalama, WA in 2002 and Arnold passed away on October 3, 2008. In 2015, Florence moved to her last residence, Lakeview Senior Living in Lincoln City, OR. She was a vibrant part of the community there, enjoying bingo, outings like fishing, and many other activities. She formed many friendships there and will be missed by many residents and staff.
Florence is survived by four children: Patsy Fodness (Denny Schoenfelder) of Dimock, SD, Nancy (Larry) Hylarides of Le Sueur, MN, David (Charlotte) Lee of Lincoln City, OR and Judy (Steve) Young of Kalama, WA; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; and sisters, Margaret and Doris Schramm.
