Fintan J. Hoesing age 91 of Newcastle, Nebraska left to join the Lord on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Arbor Care Center in Hartington, Nebraska under Hospice care with his wife Mary Jane at his side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle with the Rev. Andy Sohm and Rev. Ken Hoesing officiating. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Newcastle. Visitation will be on Monday, at church, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Wudell, Jeff Burbach, Andrew Hoesing, Matthew Hoesing, Rodney Hoesing, and Clair Hoesing. Honorary pallbearers will be Audrey Kyncl, Melinda Burbach, Rachel Wudell, and Lindsey Hoesing.
Fintan John Hoesing was born on May 16, 1931 in Hartington, NE to Peter and Helen (Wieseler) Hoesing. He attended Maskell School before the family moved closer to Newcastle. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1949. Following graduation he worked for his father. He met and soon married the love of his life, Mary Jane Schulte on January 30, 1952 in Bow Valley. Soon after their marriage they purchased a farm and starting building their lives and family together. Fintan farmed his entire life until a stroke forced him to cut back. Fintan enjoyed collecting chain saws and the challenge of fixing and repairing old equipment, along with improving current farm equipment. He used to fish and go deer and duck hunting.
Fintan is survived by his wife of 70 years Mary Jane of Newcastle; six children Leonard Hoesing of Newcastle, Larry Hoesing of Creighton, daughter Donna Hoesing of Yankton, SD, Arthur (Julie) Hoesing of Yankton, SD, Alfred (Monika) Hoesing of Maskell, Elmer (Jane) Hoesing of Coleridge; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
Fintan was preceded in death by his parents; his son Bernard; a grandson Jerome Hoesing; four brothers and spouses Rudolph (Frances) Hoesing, Harold (Joyce) Hoesing, Orville (Dorothy) Hoesing, James (Barbara) Hoesing.
