Evelyn H. Misar, age 89, of Sioux City, Iowa, died Friday, November 1, 2024, at Freeman Regional Health Services in Freeman, South Dakota.
A memorial service will be at a later date at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota.
Evelyn Misar was born August 21, 1935, in Bon Homme County, South Dakota, to Steve and Josephine (Bartunek) Misar. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Scotland, South Dakota. In 1959, she moved to Sioux City, Iowa and worked as a waitress at Kresges in K-Mart. She worked there for nearly 30 years and ended up becoming the manager until her retirement in 1987. After her retirement she stayed busy cleaning homes in the Sioux City area.
Evelyn was a hardworking, loyal woman who was always thinking of others. She was a member and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary of Hawarden, Iowa where she was active on the bowling team and also as a clown with The Jokers traveling all over the region entertaining children. She was also involved with the Royal Neighbors, serving as their secretary and treasurer for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City where she enjoyed her time with the quilting circle. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, baking, photography and watching baseball.
Survivors include her brother, Elmer Misar of Yankton, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Mary Misar of Scotland, South Dakota; one niece, six nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Josephine (Orville) Hauck; brother, Melvin Misar; and sister-in-law, Audrey Misar.
