Eleanor M. Bergman, age 97 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Matney’s Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be at the St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Pallbearers will be Scott Robbins, Kole Ligouri, Jake Bergman, Ben Bergman, Jimmy Guenther, and Dennis Schumacher.
Eleanor Mary Bergman was born on August 1, 1920 in Crofton, Nebraska to Jake H. and Regina (McNally) Guenther. She grew up in Crofton and moved to Wynot in 1937. Eleanor married Dale J. Bergman on February 4, 1948 in St. James, Nebraska. She and Dale lived in Hartington for two years until moving to Shell Lake, Wisconsin for 15 years. Eleanor and Dale moved back to Hartington in 1965. Dale died on March 22, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Eleanor spent a couple years at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge prior to moving to Matney’s Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, Nebraska on February 3, 2014.
Eleanor was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington and was a member of its Perpetual Adoration for many years. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Hartington VFW Auxilary Post #5283.
Eleanor is survived by her two sons Tom & wife Dee Bergman of Sioux Falls, SD, Doug and wife Colleen Bergman of Eau Clair, WI; three daughters Janet and Bruce Dunning of West Covina, CA, Marilyn Robbins of Dewitt, NE, Teri and Chuck Magdanz of Dakota City, NE; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; brother Ralph Guenther of Yankton, SD; two sisters Dorothy Murray of Hartington, Alice Schumacher of Norfolk.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale; son Joe Bergman, daughter Louise Patterson; brothers Armond, Harold, Marvin, and Jim Guenther; sister Verna (Alphons) Pinkelman.; daughter in law Diane Bergman; one infant granddaughter Melissa Robbins.
