Duane Arthur Bauder, age 68, of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
Funeral services are 10:30 AM, on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton with Reverend David Wildermuth officiating. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in rural Aten, Nebraska. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Friday, February 15 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Duane was born September 5, 1950 in Yankton, South Dakota to John and Hilda (Brandt) Bauder. He grew up on a farm near Scotland, South Dakota and attended Clear Lake Country School. Duane then attended Sioux Vocational School in Sioux Falls and would work on the farm on the weekends. He enjoyed raising the chickens, sheep, cattle and pigs. He moved to Yankton and became involved in Ability Building Services. There, Duane met Sharon “Shari” Mueller and they were later married on August 22, 1981. Duane delivered the Yankton Press and Dakotan and also helped cut wood. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he and Shari would help roll bandages for Global Health Ministries. He always enjoyed dinner at The Banquet and rarely missed one. Duane loved going on bus trips to Branson, Missouri with Shari. He enjoyed music and hunting with his dad and brother. Most of all, Duane just loved sitting and visiting with people.
Duane is survived by his sister, Pauline Finck of Scotland, SD; brother, Marvin (Diane) Bauder of Tyndall, SD; step brothers, Larry (Kay) Jerke of Sioux Falls and Norman Jerke of Madison, SD; aunt, Martha Ziegler of Menno, SD; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shari Bauder on July 25, 2010; and brother-in-law, Leroy Finck.
