Dorothy Crosley, age 81, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Angelhaus in Yankton.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota, with Reverend Dani Jo Bierwagen officiating. Burial will be in the Crofton Cemetery in Crofton, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.
Dorothy Crosley was born November 29, 1942, in Niobrara, Nebraska, to Richard and Mildred (Tiedke) Randa. She grew up in Niobrara and graduated from Niobrara High School. She married Larry Crosley and they moved to Clarks, Nebraska, then Newcastle, Nebraska and finally settled in Crofton, Nebraska. Dorothy worked as the hostess at Bogner’s Steakhouse in Crofton for many years and then at O’Connor’s Convenience Store in Crofton. Larry died in 1992 and Dorothy continued to work in Crofton. In 2000, Dorothy became friends with Ernest Aune. They spent the last 14 1/2 years together traveling all over but always made their back home to Yankton.
Dorothy was always on the move. She was always doing something, whether it was cooking, cleaning, gardening, or baking. She enjoyed her time with Ernie, traveling and camping. She was a hardworking, selfless, independent woman who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her two sons: Russ (Melissa) Crosley and Allan Crosley both of Crofton, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Tanner (Hannah) Crosley of Osmond, Nebraska; Cody Crosley of Bozeman, Montana; and Riley Crosley of Crofton; one great granddaughter, Adeline Kay Crosley; and two sisters: Delores Novacek of Verdigre, Nebraska and Margaret Freiburghouse of Yankton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; and special friend, Ernest Aune.
