Donovan “Don” Kressig was born December 5, 1934, on the family farm near Hartington, Nebraska. He attended country school and graduated from Cedar Catholic High School. After high school, Don continued to work on the family farm. In 1993 he married the love of his life, Lorraine Sedlacek in Tabor, South Dakota. They shared 30 wonderful years together.
Don was a quiet, humble man. He devoted his life to Faith, Family, & Farming. He took great pride in tending his land and found peace in working his fruit groves and gardens. His asparagus, rhubarb, and tomatoes were particularly delicious. Don loved his dogs, Skipper being his most beloved. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren beyond measure and was adored by them all. He was an avid reader and found westerns and murder mysteries to be his favorite. Don could always be found reading his daily newspaper and watching the never-ending Fox News channel. He was a devout Catholic who made time for the Rosary each day. He was an intelligent man who enjoyed discussing politics, watching western movies, square dancing with Lorraine and clear a pool table, all while drinking a cold Budweiser.
Don deeply loved his aunt Flora Hassman. Survivors include his beloved wife, Lorraine Kressig of Yankton, South Dakota; four step-children: Lisa (Tony) Erickson of Yankton; Mark (Mischelle) Jurrens of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Lynn Tally of Yankton and Mike (Lacey Bahm) Jurrens of Yankton; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and brother, Jim Kressig of Hartington, Nebraska.
