Dolores Ann (Thoene) Kaiser was born on December 2, 1929 to Frank and Emma (Tigges) Thoene in Fordyce, NE. She grew up with her older brothers and sister on their farm east of Fordyce. She attended school in Fordyce, completing 8 years at St. John the Baptist and 2 years at the public high school. She then attended Mount Marty to finish high school and a semester of college. She went back home to help her parents on the family farm for a few years. On February 14th, 1953, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Kaiser, son of Jacob and Theresa (Schoof) Kaiser, and they lived in Fordyce for 2 years while they cared for her ailing father until he passed away. In 1955, they moved with their two young sons, to a farm 2 ½ miles southeast of St. James, NE. Dolores worked alongside Lawrence to establish a successful livestock and crop business while they raised their family of eight children. Dolores was very involved with their local Catholic parish, St. Philip and James, where she was active on the Alter Society, Christian Mothers Group, Choir, Respect Life Committee, and the East Catholic School Board. She was also a 4-H leader in the St. James area for many years during which she taught homemaking, sewing, gardening, and many other skills to her own children and other youth in the local area. Dolores was very knowledgeable of Cedar County history and she enjoyed creating genealogy books for her family lineage. Her keen memory and strong interest in her German Catholic Heritage earned her the reputation as a trusted historian of northeast NE, especially Cedar County where her ancestors settled in the mid-1800s.

Grateful for having shared their lives with her are her eight children: David (Karen) Kaiser, Madras, Oregon; Charles, Lincoln, NE; Cheryl (Paul) Moe, Sioux Falls, SD; Roger (Jeanne) Kaiser, Fordyce, NE: Joan Marcinko, Tempe, AZ; Gary, St. James, NE; Marie (Mark) Dahlhoff, Vermillion, SD; Anne Kaiser, Denver, CO; fifteen grandchildren: Erica Maher, Mitchell (Kristen), and Matthew (Emily) Moe; Megan Kaiser and James(Abby) Kaiser; Jonathon, Aimee, Jeremy (Amber), and Alyssa Marcinkp; Ross, Emma, Clare, Joel, Mary, and Sadie Dahlhoff, 7 great grandchildren and another on the way; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Kaiser, St. Helena, and Phyllis Thoene, Hartington, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, her parents; her brothers, Charles (Glenara) and Marcus Thoene, and her sister, Irma (Ike) Felber, all of Lawrence's siblings and a grandson, Luke Dahlhoff.
