Diana L. Campbell, age 75, of Yankton, South Dakota, died peacefully Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall, South Dakota, with her daughter by her side.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend Steve Weispfennig officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
Diana L. Campbell was born January 29, 1949, in Yankton, South Dakota to Elmer and Loretta (Schmidt) Hauck. She grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1967. She then attended Black Hills State University in Rapid City, South Dakota where she received her degree in business. She moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a short time and then moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where she worked as a teller. Diana moved to Storm Lake, Iowa and worked at First Federal Bank, first as a teller and then became the Vice President of the Saving and Loan Department. She married Brian Campbell and in 1985 welcomed their daughter, Chelsea into the world. Diana moved to Yankton, South Dakota in 1995 and worked at the Rural Development Office, the Human Services Center, and lastly at the First Bank Card Center.
Diana was a kind, loving woman who would help anyone in need. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, playing cards, and watching movies and the Hallmark Channel. If you were to ask her what her greatest accomplishment was she would say being a mother to her daughter, Chelsea. Her strong faith, her friends and her family meant everything to her, and carried her through the toughest of times. She is loved and missed by many, but will live on in their hearts forever. Her daughter will be the first to tell people, Diana was an angel on Earth, and now she has her wings.
Survivors include her daughter, Chelsea Campbell of Yankton; sister, Donna (Paul) Koth of Alta, Iowa; niece, Jennifer (Tim) Hauck-Hynan of Portland, Oregon; nephew, Jon Hauck of Oregon; nephew, Matthew Koth of Aurelia, Iowa; great nieces, Brooke and Avery; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Loretta Hauck; brother, Dale Hauck and former husband, Brian Campbell, and numerous aunts and uncles as well as her cousin, Pam Lanigan.
