Dennis W. Wolfe, age 84, of Mission Hill, South Dakota, died on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Avera Majestic Bluffs Hospice House in Yankton, South Dakota.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Pastor Roy Morris officiating. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery Columbarium in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers are Chad Aune, Rodney Aune, Mike Moeller, Colin Moeller, Ryan Pennock, Bjay Scott, Richard Kloucek, and Russ Timrick.
Dennis was born on July 26, 1940 in Yankton, South Dakota to Joseph and Nora (Schlak) Wolfe. He grew up on a farm near Mission Hill where he attended Rempp Country School. Dennis graduated from high school from Oak Park Academy in Nevada, IA and then attended Union College in Lincoln, NE. There he met Loretta Koch and they were married on August 9, 1964 in Omaha, NE. After their marriage, they moved to Oak Park Academy where Dennis was the assistant manager of the broom shop for three years. Their son, Robert, was born in Nevada; five months later they moved back to the family farm near Mission Hill. Dennis continued farming and also added a dairy business which they operated for the next 30 years; they sold the dairy operation in 1998. After this, Dennis continued farming and worked at Walmart in Yankton for over 20 years – retiring at age 78. Dennis was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as the head elder for the church in Yankton for many, many years. Dennis loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved the farm. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Loretta Wolfe of Mission Hill; son, Robert (Carrie) Wolfe of Lincoln, NE; two nieces and one nephew as well as great nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bea (Hugh) Stinchfield and Shirley (Bob) Anderson; and one brother, Alvin (Minnie) Wolfe.
