Dennis Arthur Hansen was born October 29, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa to Harry and Mildred (Klemmensen) Hansen. He grew up on a farm north of Yankton, South Dakota and attended special education in Yankton. Dennis was supported by Ability Building Services in Yankton from 1991 to 2018. He worked at Goodwill from 1997 to 2008. He was known best for his sense of humor and big heart. He enjoyed listening to music, bird watching and all wildlife. He loved coming up with nicknames for people close to him or that he enjoyed. He enjoyed his coffee, and having a beer on Christmas. Dennis was very creative, and loved to make art work for people he cared about. One of his favorite television shows was The Price Is Right. He got the opportunity to go view a live show in 2014, and insisted he take a picture next to the “big bus” that was there. He was very thoughtful and made special projects for people for different things going on in their life that he cared about. He made an SDSU Jackrabbit out of paper mâché for one of his favorite staff whom supported him, because he knew she was going to a game. Dennis made many friends throughout his years, was a good friend, and will be missed.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Terry Hansen of Houston, Texas; step-sister, Carol (Joe) Reifenrath of La Vista, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dean Hansen.
