Denelda Becker

Denelda Becker, age 80 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Friday, January 10, 2020 at her residence after suffering a stroke. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating.  Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington.  Visitation will be on Sunday, at church, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday one hour prior to services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Pallbearers will be Ty Becker, Rachel Hussey, Eric Becker, Shaye Slaughter, Jack Steffen, Easton Becker, and Cole Becker. Denelda Theresa was born on April 20, 1939 in Fordyce, Nebraska to Hugo William and Hildegarde T. (Arens) Lammers.  She grew up in the Fordyce area and attended the Lammers Ranch school & graduated from West Catholic Elementary School and then from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington in 1957.  Denelda worked for Dr. Paul Lammers’ dentist office for a total of five years.  She married Marcell Cletus Becker on February 7, 1961 in Fordyce.  Denelda and Marcell raised seven children, Keith, Joan, Gayle, Diane, Brenda, Doug, and Darin. Denelda was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its woman’s guild.  She held an hour of perpetual adoration for many years.  She was a charter member of the Blue Ribbon Committee, a member of Christian Mothers and past officer, and a Red Hat Club member.  Denelda volunteered in the lunch room at Holy Trinity cafeteria and at church.  Denelda loved playing cards, sewing, gardening, travelling, and having coffee with her friends.  She enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren’s activities throughout the years. Denelda is survived by her seven children and spouses, Keith (Bette) Becker of Hartington, Joan (Eric) Meek of Des Moines, IA, Gayle (Rhonda) Becker of Hartington, Diane (Shane) Slaughter of Sioux Falls, SD, Brenda (Matt) Steffen of Hartington, Darin (Angie) Becker of Hartington, Doug (Sheila) Becker of Hartington; 27 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marcella Lammers of Yankton, SD; seven siblings Mary Jean (Jerry) Steffen of Crofton, Allen (Carol) Lammers of Hartington, Vernon (Glendy) Lammers of Hartington, Merlin (Pat) Lammers of Fremont, Darrell (Jean) Lammers of Fordyce, Anita Kneifl of Sioux Falls, SD, David (Lori) Lammers of Fordyce; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marcell on March 18, 2005 at the age of 67 years, a brother Marvin Lammers.
