Dean B. Jones Sr. age 77 of Laurel, Nebraska died on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at his residence in Laurel.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel with the Rev. Matthew Quanbeck officiating. Burial will be at the Laurel cemetery, Laurel, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel.
Pallbearers will be Dean’s nephews Harold Jones, Curtis Jones, Mike Jones, Gerele Jones, Larry Jensen, Roger Jensen, Chad Jones, Dusty Swisher, Dillon Jones, and Dallas Broders.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren – Justin Jones, Brandon Jones, Alex Jones, Dylan Jones, Hunter Jones, Christopher Jones, and Ella Jones.
Dean was born on February 13, 1945 in Laurel, Nebraska to Eli and Lela (Dowling) Jones. He grew up in Laurel and attended elementary and High School in Laurel. He began driving a truck for his dad at Jones Trucking. Dean then worked for Harold White Feed Store grinding and delivering feed. His last employment was at John Deere for 20 years in Laurel as a machinery assembler and setup person. Dean married Sharon Kay Anderson on December 18, 1966 in Laurel, Nebraska at the United Lutheran Church.
Dean B. was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Laurel. He loved woodworking, building toys, piggy banks and giving them away to many children. Dean also liked attending his sons and grandchildren’s activities, especially track and field events. He loved to take trips to Branson, Missouri and the Black Hills.
Dean is survived by his wife Sharon; two sons Jason (Stacy) Jones of Norfolk, NE, Matt (Starr) Jones of Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Christopher, Ella, Alex, Dylan, and Hunter; two sisters Marilyn Jensen of Laurel, Alice Roberts of Wayne, NE; three brothers Leonard (Jeannie) Jones of Wayne, Terry Jones and special friend Sherry of Denver, CO, Tom (Cindy) Jones of Loveland, CO; two sisters-in-law Margaret Jones and Doris Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eli & Lela Jones; son Dean Jr., four brothers Dwayne, Richard, Harold, and Sam Jones; sister Karen Jones.
