Daniel Roy Barr, age 56, passed away in his sleep, sometime during the morning hours of April 28, 2021, and certainly roared into Heaven on his Harley.
A memorial service for Dan and his father Keith, who passed on April 10, 2021, will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Gaylene Barr’s house at 50A Esther Street at Walker’s Valley north of Crofton, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
Dan was born April 5, 1965 in Sioux City, Iowa to Keith and Gaylene (O’Hern) Barr. Dan grew up in Minneapolis, MN where he attended St. Louis Park High, Normandale College, and worked his career, alongside his father, at the Minneapolis Star Tribune as a pressman. Dan married the love of his life, Debra Sousa in 1995. They lived in St. Louis Park, MN until they moved to the country, making Cedar, MN their home for 10 years. In 2011, Dan and Deb made the leap, moving to their forever home, on Lewis and Clark Lake, in Walker’s Valley, Crofton, NE. They built their home with their 4 hands and the help of many friends and family. Dan, notorious for the time, effort, and thought into every decision, loved the process of designing and completing their home. He enjoyed family, the lake, and friends, making it his mission to help any and every person in need. He could often be found plowing out a neighbor, holding boards for a fellow builder, and taking care of his family.
Well known and well loved, Dan was an amazing man with a sense of humor, a quick wit, and an easy smile. He was a man of spirit and comedy. Not only did adults love him, children too, were drawn to Dan. He was a soul mate, best friend and husband to Deb for 25 too short years, and dog-dad to their four-legged favorite, Rebel, affectionately called “Dummy” by Dan, in the most loving of voices, of course. Dan was a man of faith, praying for those in need, and living a life of service to others.
