Daniel I. Tramp

Daniel I. Tramp, age 73, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Manitowoc Health and Rehab. Graveside services are 3:30 PM, on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Beaver Creek Cemetery in rural Crofton, Nebraska. Visitation is from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, on Friday at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota. Dan was born January 29, 1946 to Bernard and Magdalen (Weibel) Tramp at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. He grew up in South Yankton, NE, graduated from Yankton High School, and then attended college at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He was a veteran and extremely proud of his country. He served active duty in the Air National Guards during the Pueblo Crisis. Sales came naturally to Dan. He was an entrepreneur, but made a career out of being a long-distance truck driver. He worked for Craig Zeller of Zeller LLC Transportation. He thought of Craig as part of his family. He drove from coast to coast and logged over a million miles. This presented him the opportunity to enjoy the things he loved – the mountains, the open road, and the freedom one gets when traveling alone. He had a sense of humor, lots of stories, and really enjoyed all the new people he met over the miles. He loved dogs, nature, and had a heart for people in need. The stories that went untold showed his true compassion. Christmas time was his favorite. With his quick-witted humor, and his passion for sharing his faith he impacted many lives. Especially at this time of year, it wasn’t uncommon for him to come in contact with a stranger, bless them monetarily, and tell them Jesus loves them. He loved sharing with others the sacrifice Christ made for us. Most recently, he was a resident at Manitowoc Health and Rehab. He enjoyed sports of any kind but his favorite was football. Dan is survived by his former spouse, Bonnie Bergeson of Oak Creek WI; three daughters: Melissa (Mike) Wojcik of Westfield Indiana, Shelly (Jamie) Weigandt of Naperville IL and Tiffani Tramp of Oak Creek WI; five grandchildren: Joli, Mataya and Aleta Weigandt, Abigail and Michael Wojcik; and his sister, Donna Steffen of Crofton NE. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Arnold, Marvin and Vincent; and one sister, Marge Becker.
