Cyril Martin Kneifl

Cyril Martin Kneifl age 69 of Newcastle, Nebraska died suddenly on May 11, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Private Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle with the Rev. Andy Sohm, Rev. Rodney Kneifl, and Rev. Jim Kramper officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary cemetery in Newcastle.  You may watch a live stream of this private funeral by going to https://www.facebook.com/WintzRay/live/.  A public viewing will be held on Thursday, at church in Newcastle, from 6-8:00 p.m.  Healthcare guidelines will be strictly enforced with the 10 person limit and required face coverings while entering church.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska. Pallbearers will be Peter Kneifl, Clayton Kneifl, Randy Kneifl, Chad Kneifl, Greg Kneifl, and Carl Kneifl. Honorary pallbearers will be Cyril’s grandchildren – Carson McDermott, Kylee McDermott, Stella Conner, Addie Conner, Kenzie McDermott, Brayden Kneifl, Liam Conner, Rylee Kneifl, and a baby due in August. Cyril was born on January 30, 1951 in Newcastle, Nebraska to Peter and Elizabeth (Burbach) Kneifl. He grew up in Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle High School in 1970. Cyril worked for Prince Hydraulics in Sioux City prior to his marriage. On June 2, 1973, he married Janet Amelia Leise at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington. Cyril farmed for a while and then worked at Great Dane Trailer in Wayne for 16 years, ending up as supervisor. Cyril was an excellent mechanic and taught this trade to his sons. Cyril was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was on the Volunteer Fireman Department. He always enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Cyril is survived by his wife Janet of Newcastle; five children Jeff & companion Debbie Landwehr of Newcastle, Dan (Amber) Kneifl of Harrisburg, SD, Tim Kneifl & companion Anna Marie Hinds of Burbank, SD, Deb (Pete) McDermott of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Stacey (Brian) Conner of Chisago City, MN; eight grandchildren Carson McDermott, Kylee McDermott, Stella Conner, Addie Conner, Kenzie McDermott, Brayden Kneifl, Liam Conner, and Rylee Kneifl; four siblings Ray (Kathy) Kneifl of Newcastle, Sylvester (Ellen) Kneifl of Newcastle, Joe (Sherry) Kneifl of Sulfur Springs, TX, Ken (MaryAnn) Kneifl of Newcastle; sister-in-law Romaine Kneifl Moran of Newcastle; many nieces and nephews. Cyril was preceded in death by his parents Peter & Elizabeth Kneifl; parents-in-law Anton & Julia Leise; a brother Leonard Kneifl; sister-in-law Marietta Kneifl; and brother-in-law Edward Moran.
