Cynthia "Cindy" Hans, a beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the age of 67, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota. 

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church. The service will be officiated by Reverend Jeremy Hans and Reverend Jim Keiter. Cindy will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in rural St. Helena. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the church from 5-7:00 p.m., with a Vigil service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the National Marrow Donor Program.

 Pallbearers include Kaden Bovee, Landon Hans, Casey Culhane, Connor Culhane, Sam Heine, and Kent Hochstein.

 Cindy was born on April 6, 1957, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Leo Francis and Dorothy Marie (Wilaby) Culhane. She spent her childhood in Hartington and graduated from Hartington Cedar Catholic High School in 1975. After high school, she attended the University of Nebraska and later Hastings College, where she earned an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development.

 On October 6, 1979, Cindy married Mark Anthony Hans in Hartington. The couple shared a beautiful life together, creating a family and nurturing their love for over four decades. Cindy worked at the family-owned Culhane Jewelry Store in Hartington before dedicating most of her career to First National Bank in Yankton, South Dakota. She continued her work at the bank until she was diagnosed with leukemia eight years ago.

Cindy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She was also one of the founding members of the "Church Ladies." She found joy in her family, grandchildren, and cherished her dogs, flowers, and bird-watching.

 Cindy is survived by her loving husband Mark Hans of St. Helena; her three children Kellie (Andrew) Green of Olathe, Kansas, Nathan (Amber) Hans of Yankton, South Dakota, and Alex Hans of Lincoln; eight grandchildren Evan, Quinn, Callum, Kaden, Baylee, Landon, Jace, and Asher; two siblings Steve (Elaine) Culhane of Omaha, and Don Culhane of Lincoln; sisters-in-law Kate Culhane of Lincoln and Tammy Culhane Reiber of Lincoln; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Dorothy Culhane and her two brothers Larry and Dennis Culhane.

 Cindy's kind spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her memory will live on through the cherished stories and moments shared by her family, friends, and the communities she touched.
