Craig Lee Downie, age 59, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospice in Yankton. A memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Monday, March 4, 2019, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with Jerry Webber officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Monday at the funeral home. Craig Lee Downie was born February 2, 1960, in Creighton, Nebraska to Dale and Charlotte (Van Houten) Downie. He grew up in Bloomfield, Nebraska and graduated from Bloomfield High School. He moved to Norfolk, Nebraska and began working at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He married Marilyn Dowling and together had three boys: Joshua, Justin and Jacob. Craig later moved to Yankton, South Dakota and began working in sales at KK93 radio station and later began selling insurance. He married Lisa Holmes on February 23, 2001 at the Argo Hotel in Crofton, Nebraska. Craig enjoyed hunting and loved being on the water boating and fishing. He loved visiting with people and especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his three sons: Joshua (Kathie) Downie of Valley Mills, Texas; Justin (Rina) Downie of Port Orchard, Washington; and Jacob Downie of Norfolk, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Brianna, Kara, Ella, Rachael and Michael; his sister, Cheri Carlsen of Osmond, Nebraska; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
