Connie Zimmerman was born October 7, 1940, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, to Harold and Evelyn (Buesing) Trenhaile. She grew up on the farm north of Bloomfield where she attended country school and graduated from Crofton High School in 1959. She married Kenneth Zimmerman on November 27, 1959 in Bloomfield. They moved to their farm west of Bloomfield in 1965 and Connie enjoyed being a farm wife, helping milk cows and gardening. They quit milking in 1996, sold their farm in 2002 and moved to Yankton, South Dakota. Once they retired, they started wintering in Texas. During this time Connie and a couple of close friends started a gospel choir, The Fun N Sun Faithful Singers, which is still going strong.

Connie was a sweet lady who enjoyed flowers, birds and loved music. She was always singing and passed on her love of music to her children. She touched many lives through music. She also taught Sunday School at Star Church north of Bloomfield. It was at this church where her love of the older gospel hymns took root as well as her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Connie was baptized as a child at this church. She had a green thumb and loved gardening. She was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club and took care of the landscaping around the Dakota Territorial Capitol in Riverside Park in Yankton.

Survivors include her three children: Lori Liley of Yankton; Robert (Laura Gillman) Zimmerman of Fordyce, Nebraska; and Brian (Teresa) Zimmerman of Mooresville, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Josie Zimmerman, Jack Zimmerman, Caleb Zimmerman, Allissa (Daniel) Turack, and Leah Zimmerman; two great grandchildren: Zoey Hope and Eli Kenneth; five brothers and sisters: Bernice Schneider of Bloomfield; Jack (Diane) Trenhaile of Newberg, Oregon; Dale (Linda) Trenhaile of Yankton; Janet Wiese of Yankton; and Steve (Gail Lane) Trenhaile of Rustburg, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Mary Trenhaile of Bloomfield; and Charlotte (Leroy) Walter of Crofton and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth in 2018; son-in-law, Woodrow Liley Jr.; brothers, sisters and in-laws: Richard (Darlene) Trenhaile, Betty (Harold) Ketelsen, Tom Trenhaile; Richard Schneider and Duane Wiese; and great grandson, Gracen Turack.
