Claudia Maska, age 74, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Avera Majestic Bluffs Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Pastor Jeff Mueller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton.
Claudia Maska, age 74, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Avera Majestic Bluffs Hospice House.

Claudia was born October 17, 1949 in Minden, Nebraska to Roy Jr. and Jo Ann (Hogeland) Richter. She graduated from Bloomington High School in Bloomington, NE in 1967 and then attended the Grand Island School of Business where she graduated in 1968. On August 25, 1968, Claudia married Richard “Dick” Maska in Marquette, NE. They lived in Salina, KS and then Grand Island, NE before moving to Yankton in 1980. Claudia ran an in-home daycare for several years and also worked at Gurney’s Seed and Nursery. She then became a receptionist where she did clerical work for Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health for close to 20 years until she retired.
Claudia loved cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and fishing with her husband, Dick. She enjoyed bowling and playing volleyball in her younger years. She also enjoyed crafting and made many different collectables for herself and her family. Claudia was very social and hospitable and was always up for hosting a party. She also loved baking for her family. Claudia was so selfless and always made sure everyone else was taken care of. She will be greatly missed.
Claudia is survived by two sons: David (Stephanie) Maska of Parker, SD and Adam (Melissa) Maska of Yankton; seven grandchildren: Eli (Taylor), Noah (fiancé, Grace), Dawson, Jackson, Micah, Logan and Milo; two great grandchildren, Kennedy and Teddy; five siblings: Rex (Becky) Richter of Aurora, NE, Kim (Cindy) Richter of Council Bluffs, IA, Trish (Jerry) Hoegh of Aurora, Rick (Pam) Richter of Savannah, MO, and Lisa (Todd) Reichardt of Aurora; and many nieces and nephews.
Claudia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard “Dick” Maska on August 13, 2019; daughter, Monica Jo Maska; and brother, Terry (Rita) Richter.
