  Claire Eugene Hansen, age 86, of Hartington, Nebraska died on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at his residence. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel, Nebraska at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matthew Quanbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Coleridge, NE, with military services provided by the Coleridge American Legion Post 114. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Pallbearers will be Dr. Steven Hansen, Matthew Hansen, Daniel Hansen, Michael Waid, Matthew Waid, Tyler Specht, Peter Hansen and Dr. Bryce Hansen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Maulding, Jerry Heine, Verneal Gade, Chuck Albers and Marvin Domina. Claire was born on September 25, 1932 in Coleridge, Nebraska to Carl Detlef and Emma Sophia (Frerichs) Hansen. He grew up in the Coleridge area and graduated from Coleridge High School in 1949. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, NE for one year. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, serving in North Africa. On November 6, 1955, Claire married Helene C. Felter in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. After their marriage, Claire and Helene farmed east of Coleridge until they moved to a farm south of Coleridge in 1960. From 1963 – 1981, Claire owned and operated Hansen Implement in Coleridge and also farmed until 1992. Helene died on October 25, 2006. Claire married Marilyn Hansen on November 23, 2007 in Coleridge. They made their home in Hartington. Claire was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Laurel and the Coleridge American Legion Post 114. He was a former board member of the Educational Service Unit #1, the Osmond Hospital, the Coleridge Community School District, Cedarview Golf Course, and was a former council member for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge. Claire volunteered for the American Red Cross and traveled to New York City after 9/11 and other locations in the U.S. and abroad. He enjoyed golf and playing cards. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh. Claire is survived by his wife Marilyn Hansen of Hartington, NE; one son, Byron and Sheryl Hansen of Kearney, NE; three grandsons, Dr. Steven and Brittany Hansen and their sons, James and Wyatt of Colorado Springs, CO; Matthew and Cassie Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO; and Daniel Hansen and his fiancé, Madison Fickel, of Lincoln, NE; six step children Sandra Hansen of Ames, IA, Cherine and James Specht of Hartington, NE, Drs. Dale and Sandra Hansen of Lincoln, NE, Dr. Lori Hansen and husband Dr. Mike Waid of Yankton, SD, Dave and Karla Hansen of Hartington, NE, and Drs. Calvin and Kathleen Hansen of West Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Helene, daughter Denice Hansen, son Gary Hansen, three brothers Clayton, Dallas and Francis Hansen, sister-in-law Frances Hansen, and also Stacey and Lacey Specht, Joslynn Specht, Eva Hansen and Kasey Hansen.
