Cindy Vyborny

Cindy Vyborny, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at her home in rural Lesterville, South Dakota.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Friday, July 19 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a vigil service at 7:00 PM. Visitation also continues one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Cythnia Vyborny was born October 1, 1954 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Cyril and Arlene (Sikorski) Schroeder. She grew up in Breckenridge where she graduated from high school. Cindy attended Moorhead State University for a few years and then graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in education. She taught grade school at Olivia, MN for a few years before moving to Yankton in the early 1980’s. Cindy worked at the First National Bank Card Center in Yankton. She married Joseph Vyborny on September 13, 1986 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Tabor, SD. After their marriage, they lived on a farm southeast of Lesterville. Cindy was a substitute teacher at Sacred Heart Middle School and St. Ben’s Elementary in Yankton for many years. She always volunteered to assist with school activities and drove for many field trips. Cindy also ran the Sacred Heart Book Fair for 14 years.

Cindy enjoyed reading, playing board games with her family, traveling, and photography. In their early years of marriage, she enjoyed taking motorcycle rides with her husband. Cindy loved her dogs and decorating for the holidays. She absolutely loved pizza and chocolate. Cindy had a great sense of humor and loved telling and hearing jokes. She enjoyed catching up with friends and made new ones wherever she went. Cindy’s daughters were her pride and joy.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Joseph Vyborny of Lesterville; two daughters, Katrina (Jordan) Lenards and Sophia Vyborny, both of Sioux Falls, SD; three siblings: Bruce (Denise) Schroeder of Gretna, NE, Neil (Bonnie) Schroeder of Fargo, ND and Nancy (Kelan) Boughton of Sabin, MN; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Tailene.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Marissa.
