Chad David Mathiason

Chad David Mathiason age 49 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his residence under hospice care.

Memorial services will be on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington with the Rev. Amanda Talley officiating.  Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date.  There will be visitation with the family one hour prior to services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Chad David was born on October 3, 1973 to Claude Alvin Dean and Bonnell June (Benjamin) Mathiason.  He grew up in Hartington and graduated from Hartington High School in 1992.  While in high school Chad worked for Burnell Herbolshimer at Foodtown.  Chad went to UTI Trade School in Omaha for two years to study mechanics.  Chad then went to work for Dick Donner, North Central Builders, Dennis Brodersen at Northstar and he also worked for Chuck Meirose on the farm.  His last employment was for the City of Hartington for the last six years.

Chad enjoyed catfish fishing and he loved visiting with people.

Chad is survived by his parents Claude and Bonnell Mathiason of Hartington; a son Jordon Mathiason of Hartington; a sister Janell (Gail) Stratman of Stromsberg; a brother Brant (Kathy) Mathiason of Brookings, SD; nieces and nephews Crystal (Dallas) Schilling of Malcolm, NE, Abby (Dylan) Dulas of Harrisburg, SD, Ryan Mathiason of Brookings, SD,  Taylor (Jared) Stander of Ames, IA, Morgan Stratman of DeForest, WI, Erica Stratman of Lincoln; two great nieces Emalynn Schilling and Abigail Schilling of Malcolm, NE.

Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and a brother Derek on 1/4/2017 at the age of 49 years.
