Brad Larson

October 23, 1961 — November 2, 2023

Sharon, MA

Brad Larson, 62, of Sharon, Massachusetts was murdered at his home November 2, 2023.

Services will be held in Sharon, Massachusetts at the Unitarian Church at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, November 12, and in Yankton, South Dakota at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM, on Friday, November 17.

Brad was born October 23, 1961 in Mitchell, SD, beloved son of Merle and Virginia Larson.  He graduated from Yankton High School in 1980.  As grateful parents, we extend thanks to the many of you who helped shape him – teachers, Sunday school teachers, Scout leaders, music teachers, friends, parents of friends – so many.

He graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.  His participation in their Global Semester, where approximately 20 students and a Professor lived and studied as they made their way around the globe, led him to a love and appreciation of peoples and cultures, and a yearning for more travel.  After graduation, he set out alone, travelling the world for 9 months, immersed in and appreciating many cultures.  He stayed wherever he could find, including a Buddhist Monastery, and he made friends everywhere.

Brad received his Master’s Degree from Harvard University concurrently engaging in work study at MIT.  He began his career in Museum exhibit development at the Children’s Museum in Boston using people’s “stories” to connect them and as a career led to his development of “Story Habitat”, a means for cities, institutions, Churches, etc. to record and save memories, celebrations, etc. of that place and time.

He married Paula Sincero and they have a son, Lucas Jasper Sincero Larson.  Brad and Paula later divorced.

Simplicity was his forte.  He found joy in a single flower, a rock, a cloud, and about these things he wrote meaningful Haikus and added one of his beautiful photos.  Here is one he wrote on his 62nd birthday, 2 weeks ago:

What better present?

friends near and far, and sunlight

shining through fall leaves

With a colleague, he had begun a book of his Haikus and photos.

Brad was an extraordinary man, not of worldly possessions but of love of Nature, love of people everywhere, and Joy!  “Kind, gentle, a light in the world” many of his friends said.  He loved his church, his museum associates, his Biodanza friends, Shintaido friends, associates at the Sharon Historical Society, drummers all, Neighbors and Friends everywhere.  And he loved running up Rattlesnake Hill, Shintaido stick in hand.

Mourning Brad’s passing, in addition to his parents are sisters, Julie Larson Mudry of Fort Worth, Texas and Jill Larson of Yankton, Nephew, Nieces, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and his many extraordinary friends mourn.

His life held so much promise of great things to come……

Love you forever, Brad Larson!
