Bernard “Bernie” Wieseler, age 86, of Bow Valley, Nebraska died on Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Coleridge, Nebraska.
There will be a reception for Bernie to celebrate his life at 2:30 PM, on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Hall in Bow Valley. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska.
Bernard was born December 10, 1938 in Hartington, Nebraska to Albert and Rose (Arens) Wieseler. He grew up on a farm near Hartington and attended Wynot Grade School and then St. Helena High School. Bernie joined the United States Merchant Marines and served his country for several years. On January 19, 1960, he married Eileen Pick in Bow Valley. They lived in Duluth, MN and Nashville, TN before settling in Omaha, NE in 1962. Bernie and Eileen were married for 12 years and had four children: Robert, Joan, Judy and David. Bernie was a diesel mechanic for Kenworth for over 20 years and then drove truck for Werner Enterprises. Bernie later moved back to Bow Valley and drove part time for Kleinschmit Trucking.
Bernie loved playing checkers and cards, especially bid euchre and sheepshead. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching Westerns, working on tractors and fixing farm equipment with his brother, Mickey. When Bernie was younger, he enjoyed roller skating and even entered roller skating competitions. Bernie absolutely loved visiting with his friends and he never met a stranger. He could talk to anyone and was full of one liners.
Bernie is survived by four children: Robert (Marilyn) Wieseler of Sidney, IA, Joan (Mark) Jamieson of Pewaukee, WI, Judy (Mike) Wozny of Omaha, NE and David (Becky) Wieseler of Battle Creek, MI; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Charlene Eickhoff of California and Carol (Anthony) Thoene of Bow Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose (Arens) Wieseler, a child, Bernard Wieseler Jr., and four siblings: Betty Jean Filips, Albert “Junior” Wieseler, Anna Marie Schaefer, and Anthony “Mickey” Wieseler.
