Arthur Dale Anderson, age 80, passed away on March 25, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on March 2, 1945, in Yankton, South Dakota. Arthur led a life marked by dedication to service, education, and community.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Yankton Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota with military honors performed by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791 of Yankton and the SD Army National Guard Funeral Honors. A visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton. Afterward, family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering back at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home from 2:45 PM to 4:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Skiatook, Oklahoma at a later date.
Arthur pursued higher education with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Delta Sigma Phi member. His academic journey continued with a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota, reflecting a lifelong commitment to learning and professional excellence. Arthur was also a licensed pilot in 1974 as well as a CPA.
On March 31, 1969, Arthur began his military career by joining the United States Army. Over nearly three decades of honorable service, serving in Vietnam as a combat engineer, moving from active duty to reserves he rose through the ranks and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel on February 24, 1996. His military tenure was a cornerstone of his life—marked by leadership, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his country.
Following retirement from reserve duty, Arthur remained deeply engaged with the community. He volunteered regularly at the local VA office, offering time and support to fellow veterans. His commitment to service extended beyond the uniform and into everyday acts of kindness and civic responsibility.
Arthur also found joy in dancing and took weekly lessons that brought rhythm and movement into his life. This passion reflected his appreciation for connection and expression through art.
Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene Campbell Anderson, and survived by his ex-wife Elise Anderson. He is remembered with love by his son Erik (Julie), and grandsons Jake and Ethan, all of Austin, TX
