Louis I Arens age 92 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Monday, July 01, 2019 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, Nebraska with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be at the Sts. Peter & Paul cemetery in Bow Valley, Nebraska with military rites by the Hartington VFW Post #5283. Visitation will be on Friday morning, at church, from 9:00 a.m. until service time with a rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be James Arens, Bill Arens, Vern Arens, David Guenther, Ray Lenzen, Gayle Brummer, Kenny Arens, and Terry Brummer.
Louis Isedore Arens was born on June 18, 1927 in Bow Valley to Louis Casper and Rosa Marie (Sudbeck) Arens. He grew up in the Bow Valley area and attended school in Bow Valley. Louis served in the U.S. Army from 2/28/1951 to 2/18/1953. Louis served as a supply truck driver for 15 months in Korea during the Korean War. After being discharged, he did farm work for several summers for his brother Ben at Orient, SD, and then worked for an Implement business in Hartington setting up farm equipment. Louis also drove a truck for Herman Lenzen and drove a school bus. He had work on the farm for Bruno Heine for 27 years. Louis also enjoyed fixing and riding bicycles.
Louis was a member of Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church.
Louis is survived by his sister-in-law Theresa Arens of Yankton, SD; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis & Rosa (Sudbeck) Arens; seven brothers Victor, Edmund, Rudolph, Ralph, Ben, Hugo Arens and infant brother; sisters Mary Ann Lenzen and Angeline Guenther, along with three infant sisters.
