Anthony F. Keiter

Anthony Frank Keiter age 95 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with nephew Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington with military rites by the Hartington VFW Post #5283 and the Legion Riders. Visitation will be on Monday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Anthony “Tony” was born on February 20, 1929 in Hartington, Nebraska to Frank G. and Katherine (Sohm) Keiter. Tony grew up in the Hartington area where he farmed his entire life. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington. Tony served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Tony raised hogs, cattle, grain and belonged to the Cedar Pig Coop Board and the Farmers Union Board. Tony was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and held an hour of adoration for decades. He served as a past parish council member and was a member of the Hartington VFW Post 5283. Tony was a “Mr. Fix it” and liked his Ford vehicles, and International Harvester farm equipment. Tony belonged to several card clubs and played many games of Sheephead over the years.

 Anthony is survived by his sister-in-law Darlene Keiter; nieces Debbie (Woody) Armentrout and Gina Dierks; nephews Rev. Jim Keiter and Ken (Kayla) Keiter; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Mary Frances Keiter, Theresa Keiter, Catherine Dierks, Jacob Keiter; brother-in‐law Ralph Dierks; and niece Linda Dierks.
