Amber Kneifl

Amber Kneifl age 38 of Hartington, Nebraska died suddenly of an apparent aneurism on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle, Nebraska with Rev. Andy Sohm and Rev. Rod Kneifl officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Newcastle. Visitation will be on Monday, at church, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a vigil service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday morning. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska. 

Pallbearers will be Amber’s siblings – Jeremy Hart, Heath Claussen, Nickie Kouma, Chance Claussen, RainNee Claussen-Lintz, and Nevada Claussen. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mike Wagner. 

Amber DeSire Freedom Kneifl was born on February 7, 1984 in O’Neill, Nebraska to Randy Ray Reimers and Janice Mae Hart Claussen. She grew up in Pierce, Nebraska and graduated from Pierce High School in 2003. After high school, Amber attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE for two years with a focus in Early Childhood Development. In 2006, Amber married Ryan Kneifl in Newcastle, Nebraska. They lived in Newcastle until Amber moved to Hartington in 2020. From 2016 until 2020, Amber worked at Bomgaars in Sioux City. She also spent time as a stay-at-home mom and worked at farm supply stores. 

Amber enjoyed boxing in high school and college. She was a national champion once and runner-up several times. She also enjoyed farming, spending time with family, horseback riding, and was involved in 4-H. 

Amber is survived by her four children, Kora Kneifl, Christopher Kneifl, Logan Kneifl, and Elliott Kneifl of Newcastle, NE; six siblings, Jeremy (Peggy) Hart of Hartington, NE, Heath (Joy) Claussen of Wayne, NE, Nickie (Tom) Kouma of Seward, NE, Chance (Alisha) Claussen of Stanton, NE, RainNee (Jonathan) Claussen-Lintz of Seward, NE, Nevada (Leah) Claussen of Pierce, NE; the father of Amber’s children, Ryan Kneifl of Newcastle, NE; parents, Randy Reimers & Janice Claussen of Norfolk, NE; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Shirley and Alvin Hart.
