Alphonse S. Brunsing, age 93, of Crofton, Nebraska, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM on Monday, July 8, 2019, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, Nebraska, with Reverend Michael Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Crofton with military honors provided by the Crofton American Legion Post 128. Visitation is from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton with a vigil service at 4:00 PM.
Pallbearers are Daniel Brunsing, Jerry Brunsing, Mark Brunsing, Mike Brunsing, Jeff Maibaum and Joe Maibaum.
Alphonse S. Brunsing was born September 4, 1925, in Crofton, Nebraska, to Max M. and Mary Marie (Deppe) Brunsing. He attended District 108 Country School for four years and then finished his education at St. Rose of Lima School in Crofton. He then lived at home and farmed with his dad and brother, Henry. Alphonse was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and served for two years. After the war, he returned to the farm until moving to Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton in April of 2013. Alphonse loved the farm and enjoyed taking good care of all of the animals. He was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton as well as a lifetime member of the Crofton American Legion Post 128.
Survivors include his four nephews: Daniel and Dorothy Brunsing of West Point, Nebraska; Jerry Brunsing of Wes Point; Mark Brunsing of Dodge, Nebraska and Mike and Rebecca Brunsing of Wagner, South Dakota; and a niece Karen and Tom McMahon of West Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Hubert and Henry Brunsing.
