Alice Margaret Graffis, age 95 of Laurel, Nebraska, died on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel with the Rev. Matthew Quanbeck officiating. Burial will be at the New Holy Trinity Cemetery in Brainard, Nebraska at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be on Thursday, at United Lutheran Church in Laurel from 5-7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday.. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home of Laurel.
Alice Margaret Graffis, daughter of Adolph and Rose (Pauel) Kobza was born December 15, 1923 at David City, NE. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in Brainard, Nebraska thru the 8th grade and then attended Brainard High School. Alice was united in marriage to Raymond Graffis on March 12, 1957 at the Danish Gethsemane Lutheran Church at Laurel, Nebraska.
Alice and Raymond lived on their farm north of Laurel until retiring into Laurel in April of 1997. On the farm Alice enjoyed taking care of her family, her flower garden, gardening, and taking care of the farm cats. At Hillcrest Alice enjoyed many of the activities they offered, especially if it involved music. Family members were blessed with being able to share Alice’s 95th birthday with her. Alice was a member of the United Lutheran Church.
Alice Graffis is survived by her son Adrian Scholz of Hartington, NE, her daughter Arlyce Graffis of Laurel, NE; three stepsons and a daughter-in-law Emory and Linda (Thompson) Graffis of Sioux City, IA, Kenneth Graffis of Summerville, SC, and Alan Graffis and special friend Donna Dyer of Paris, IL; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in law Marion and Betty Kobza of Dwight, NE, Andrew Kobza of David City, NE, two sisters and brother-in-law, Leona Divis of Brainard, NE, Sylvia and Leroy Ratkovec of Valparaiso, NE; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond Graffis, grandson Jared Graffis, brother-in-law Art Divis, and sister-in-law and husband Eleanor (Graffis) and Harold Carlson.
