Aaron J. Bensen age 53 of Ponca, Nebraska died unexpectantly on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Unity Point Health – St. Lukes in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ponca Community Center in Ponca, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Aaron Jeffrey was born on December 9, 1969 in Sioux City, Iowa to Rodney Adair and Vera Jean (Andersen) Bensen. He grew up north of Maskell, Nebraska on the family farm. He attended school in Newcastle, NE and graduated from Newcastle High School in 1988. Aaron then enrolled in the U.S. Airforce and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona. He served stateside during the Gulf War until being honorably discharged in 1992. Aaron then moved to California for five years before moving back to Newcastle. He worked for Terra and Central Valley and local area farmers until 2002. He received his Associate Degree and then owned and operated his own farm and did custom work for area farmers. For the past six years he has owned and operated his trucking operation. His hobby was working on his truck, pulling motors, riding his motorcycle, and keeping busy.
Aaron is survived by his daughter Jinell Carslin of Lincoln, NE; three siblings Wendy Bensen and Brian Kelly of Papillion, NE, Eldon (Katie) Bensen of Dakota City, NE, Beau (Jen) Bensen of Maskell, NE; one niece, eight nephews, and one great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rodney and Vera Bensen, and grandparents.
