Meaningful Funeral Topics

We realize that families have many choices and service options when it comes to planning a funeral. We also realize that the funeral service is one of the most important events in  someone’s life. Losing someone we love is one of the hardest experiences we will face. The funeral is really the starting point on our journey through this experience. That is why it is so important to create a meaningful funeral. We are here to assist you and your family throughout the planning process, to provide you with options that reflect your loved one’s life and to personalize a service that has meaning so when you look back on the funeral experience, you can be filled with positive feelings, knowing you created a funeral that honored your loved one. We understand that there is only one chance to create a meaningful funeral so we will assist you with every aspect of the service down to the smallest of details. We handle all the details so you can focus on what’s really important, being together with your family and supporting one another.

Traditional Funeral Service

A traditional funeral service is when your loved one is present in a casket. Generally, visitation is held the night before the funeral and the funeral service itself is held the following day at either our funeral home, church or other location. After the funeral, there is a procession to the cemetery for a committal service. The graveside service may be followed by a reception in our Hospitality Center, church, or another gathering place.

Funeral Service and then Cremation

Cremation is another means of final disposition such as burial and entombment. The cremation can follow the visitation and funeral service at which the casket is present. After the funeral service, instead of going to the cemetery right away, the cremation takes place. After cremation, a public or private burial of the cremated remains can occur as soon as the next day or at the  convenience of the family. The remains may also be scattered or kept by the family. This option is for families who prefer cremation but also find it important to have a visitation and funeral with their body  present.

Cremation and then Memorial Service

Cremation takes place first and then a memorial service is held at the funeral home, church or other location. If the family desires, a private family viewing can occur prior to the  cremation. This can be an important time for families to gather and say  goodbye. The remains are usually present in an urn for the service and then afterward, the urn may be taken to a cemetery for burial or be returned to the family.

Immediate Cremation

An immediate cremation is when the cremation takes place right away and no services are held. After the cremation, the remains are returned to the family.

Funeral Service vs. Memorial Service

The terms funeral service and memorial  service are basically synonymous. It is a service of remembrance to honor someone who has died. Technically speaking, a funeral service is when the body is present and a memorial service is when the body is not present.
