John Casper Wuestewald, age 50, of Yankton, South Dakota, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

Funeral services are 10:00 AM, on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend David Gunderson officiating.  Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Sunday, July 5, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.

Pallbearers are Nick Frazier, Chris Schurman, Kyler Wuestewald, Joshua Wuestewald, Jason Wuestewald, Jamey Wuestewald, Justin Wuestewald, Joey Wuestewald and Joby Wuestewald.  Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren: Nick, Jarrett, Mercedes, Mariah, Miley, Jyles, Jordan, Jaxson, Josie and Bentley.

John was born October 10, 1964 in Yankton, South Dakota to Larry and Barbara (Jensen) Wuestewald.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Yankton High School.  John played Little League baseball, enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting with his brothers.  John married Kari (Borgen) Anderson in 1982.  To this union, two sons were born, Justin and Joby.  On May 1, 2015 John married Michelle Christenson.  John worked at Alumax Extrusions for 16 years.  He then worked for Jaster Construction before following in his dad's footsteps at Larry's Canvas until the time of his death.  John enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, barbequing and family-get-togethers.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.  Although, John enjoyed every holiday with family and his most favorite holiday was the fourth of July.

John is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Michelle of Yankton; two sons, Justin (Ashley) of Yankton and Joby (Staci) of Gayville, SD; two stepchildren, Jake Onstott and Hailey Onstott, both of Yankton; parents, Larry and Barbara Wuestewald of Yankton; three sisters: Brenda (Duane) Leicy of Norfolk, NE, Pam (Bob) Altenburg of Pickstown, SD and Theresa (Dennis) Smith of Yankton; two brothers, Jamey Wuestewald of Yankton and Jason (Leasha) Wuestewald of Mission Hill, SD; 10 grandchildren: Nick Frazier, Jarrett, Mercedes, Mariah, Miley, Jyles, Jordan, Jaxson and Josie Wuestewald and Bentley Onstott; as well as a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Chris and Ann Jensen; paternal grandparents, Casper and Rose Wuestewald; brother, Jeff Wuestewald; and nephew, Cody Wuestewald.

Michelle-Joby-Justin and families I am so sorry for the loss of John. I had met him at Staci and Joby's wedding and he is the grandfather of my great nephews: Jordan and Jaxson and my great niece: Josie. I am so very sorry to hear of this and my heart is so sad. We will keep his spirit alive thru his sons and grandchildren. Michelle-I am so glad you two were married after all this time!!!! To the whole family we are so sorry for the lost of John and we are praying for everyone. John was a fun guy to be around. I could tell he Loved everyone in his family no matter what and he for sure had so much fun with his grandkids. I loved it when grandpa took out the water gun for Bentley and shooting water at things on my farm and Bentley had so much fun. Michelle were blessed to have a great man.
