Ruth A. Wik, age 91 of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
A memorial service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, January 25, 2016, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend David Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
Ruth A. Wik was born August 17, 1924, in Armour, South Dakota to Paul and Caroline (Anderst) Nase. She grew up in Armour and graduated from Armour High School in 1942. Ruth moved to Yankton and began working at Gurney's. She married Millard "Moose" Wik on September 26, 1949 in Yankton. After their marriage, they moved to Pierre, South Dakota, where Ruth took great pride in raising her two children: Barb and Gary. They later moved to Omaha, Nebraska and finally returned to Yankton in 1970.
Ruth was a quiet woman who loved doing crossword puzzles, baking, traveling with Moose, but especially loved taking care of her family and playing with her granddaughters.
Survivors include her daughter, Barb Wagner of Yankton; two granddaughters: Lisa Koletzky of Yankton and Amanda (Gino) Delucia of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; great granddaughter, Aleah; and sister, Mardell Uken of Springfield, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Moose Wik on September 16, 2011; son, Gary Wik; and sister, Alvera Cunningham.
