Robert Lynn Thioulon age 71 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington with Rev. Jim Keiter officiating and visitation beginning at 5:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington.
Robert was born on January 3, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Marguerite Thomas. He grew up in Mississippi and Alabama and graduated from High School. He then graduated from the U.S. Air Force Aerospace Ground Support Technician School in 1960 and went on to the U.S. Army Primary and Advanced Warrant Officer Flight Training where he graduated in 1965. At that time he was sent to Vietnam where he served as a medevac helicopter pilot. After being discharged from the service he was the general operations manager for Selrose Jewelry Company in Little Rock, Arkansas for 6 years. He also attended college at the Los Angeles City College where he received a degree in music and also studied T.V. Broadcasting for a year.
Robert married Denise Nelson on October 28, 1978 in Hartington and they lived in Florida until returning to Hartington where they have made their home since 1981. Robert worked as a field reporter for the Cedar County Farm Service Agency for many years and then was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal service. He also was an EMT with the Hartington Ambulance Squad. Most recently he worked at Food Town in Hartington. Robert loved to spend time with music and tending to his garden. He was especially fond of photography and had many favorite subjects including his 2 beautiful grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Denise Thioulon of Hartington, 2 sons, Trint and Nikki Thioulon and their children Tatumn and Gabriella of Lakeville, Minnesota; Harmony S. Thioulon of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; step father, Norman Rush of Orlando, Florida; 2 sisters, Cynthia Tiche and Robin Dickerson of Orlando, FL; a brother, Norman Rush II of Madison, Mississippi; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bart and Diane Souhrada of Coleridge, NE; John and Deb Pilato of Rochester, NY; Myrna Fuerenstein and her friend Doug of Lennox, SD; Mike Nelson of Hartington, Jody Nelson of Hartington and Teri Nelson of Norfolk, NE.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Rush, 3 sons, Harmony S., Solomon A., Mark T., 2 infant step siblings, Steven and Stephanie Rush, parents-in-law, Dean and JoAnn Nelson, 2 brothers-in-law, Jeff and Mark Nelson and a sister-in-law, Judy Nelson.

Cousin Robert (Bobby) and I had a lot of good times together when we were growing up. I did not have a brother so Bob and our other cousin Ronald (Ronnie) were like brothers to me. My wife and I send our condolences to the family and we are sorry for your loss.
