Curtis "Curt" Stark, age 65, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Friday, February 3, 2017, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend David Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Nebraska. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Curtis "Curt" Stark was born March 29, 1951, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, to Gerald and Marcella (Hahne) Stark. He grew up in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and graduated from Aberdeen High School. He worked construction in Aberdeen for a few years until moving to Northeast Nebraska to help his parents in the bar business. They moved to Tyndall, South Dakota, and started the Tyndall Lounge, where Curt helped his parents until he began working at CR Industries in Springfield, South Dakota. He married Jean Schneider on June 29, 1991 in Tyndall. They lived in Tyndall for a short time and then moved to Yankton where Curt began working for John's Total in Yankton.
Curt was a funny, hardworking man who loved sports, bowling and spending time with his family. Family was always the most important thing in his life and he was always very loyal to his mother.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Stark of Yankton, South Dakota; daughter, Michelle (Eric) Marco of Aberdeen, South Dakota; three step-children: Robert "Bob" (Marisa) Kalmbach of Huron, South Dakota; William "Bill" (Lisa) Kalmbach of Belleview, Nebraska; and Lori (Dean) Kalmbach of Tyndall, South Dakota; 16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren with one on the way; mother, Marcella Stark of Yankton; three brothers: Randy Stark of Utica, Nebraska; Ken Stark of Springfield, South Dakota; and Rick Stark of Yankton; sister, Gail (Francis) Prairie of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Stark and Grandparents.
