Messages will be reviewed and posted within 1 business day.

I'm sitting here thinking of Rita, wondering why God chooses to take great people like her to die?? Why take her away so soon!! Take her away from Craig and her kids and grandkids?? Taken away from family and tons of friends who love her so much?? Why can't God take the bad people?? I don't get it!!! It makes me very angry, but there's nothing I can do!!! I feel sadness and pain knowing that she left too soon!!! I am so very sorry for your loss of such a remarkable woman who I'll never forget. Rest in peace Rita! I love you!

I was very saddened to learn of Rita's passing. My deepest sympathies to Craig and their wonderful family. Her cheerful voice and pleasant smile will be missed as she was truly a bright light in everyones lives. Many years ago it was her encouragement as a soccer referee that brought me into the sport as a coach and referee which I continued for several years. It is a fond memory that we shared often. I will always remember her enthusiasm and passion for soccer and the youth in our community and life in general.

A few years ago, when Rita and I were just young girls (ha,ha) .... we became friends. We went to Yankton schools together, hung out from time to time and during the course of growing up, I always admired her beauty(inside and out) and her silly, crazy ways and her wonderful sense of humor! She was always fun to be around and always had your best interest at heart! Now our lives went different ways, over time things changed. Wasn't long and husbands came into our lives and then children and while we were not close as we were in school... she always treated me as if things never changed and I always considered her my forever friend. Whenever I saw her, her face would light up and she would smile and then have something off the wall to say...and I felt like we were back in school...like old chums. She ALWAYS made me feel important and loved as her friend...her forever friend. She made the world brighter!! She was not taken for us to be sad...but for us to celebrate knowing her at all. How peaceful that is to know. May you find comfort in all that you know and have shared by being part of Rita.

We lived on the same block while our kids were growing up and I always remember her and Craig out playing with their kids (and sometimes my kids) in their backyard or in the field behind their house. Loretta, Craig, Jake, Katie, Sam and extended family - I am so sorry for your loss. I just wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Trust in the Lord to get you through this.

Patricia (Christensen) Nichelson

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Rita. Though I haven't seen her in quite a while I will always remember her when we were growing up and she would come to Lesterville. She had a infectious smile and a bubbly personality. Though she will leave a huge void in her families lives, may she have peace in the Lord's arms.

Rita is a special person she made us laugh she made us cry the Government Center will never be the same, we will miss her.

Patty Hojem

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Rita was one in a million. The most organized person I ever knew. She made working at HSC the most fun and after she left it was never the same. Playing volleyball with her was the greatest, she always found a way for us to be winners whether we won or lost the game. Soccer time was awesome. For you Jake I will always remember at SF state tourn. and you were leaving the field to go after a butterfly. Your mom and I laughed about that for years. So whenever I see a butterfly I will think of her. You will always feel her with everything you do and I know she will continue to guide all of you. Rita I love you and will miss you. God Bless all of you.

Betty Granflaten

So sorry for your loss, Our prayers are with the family.

To all of Rita's family and friends, I am so very saddened to hear of her passing. Rita and I were great friends in middle school and I echo the words of many who have written that she was so full of life, quick to laugh, quicker to comfort a friend in need. My very first "crush" on a girl was in 7th grade and her name was Rita List. She never had a clue as I was too shy to tell her. Craig, you were the lucky man to win her heart. The pictures in the collage show Rita as I remember her. Such a wonderful smile, full of life, beautiful inside and out. Her love surely lives on in the hearts of her children and grand children. May you all keep her love alive. My most sincere condolences to all.

Kindest regards,
Randy Kruml
