Jody was born April 5, 1964, in Osmond, Nebraska, to David and Betty (Hill) Sage. He grew up in the Niobrara and Crofton, Nebraska areas and graduated from Crofton High School in 1982. While he was in high school he started working at Cedar Pork in Hartington, Nebraska. He married Deborah Radack on October 22, 1983 in Yankton. They moved to Yankton in 1984 and Jody later began working at Redlinger Bros. Plumbing and Heating, which he continued for the next 30 years. While working for Redlinger Bros., Jody was very active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as the Sack Pack Program in Yankton.

Jody was a hard worker, who was always willing to help or lend a hand but never wanted any credit for the things he did. Even in his death, Jody continues to help others through his decision to be an organ donor. Over 60 people will benefit from Jody's donation. He was a diehard Husker fan and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing cards, playing yard games, attending his children's sporting events, watching Adam race, and entertaining at his house especially at his yearly 4th of July party. Jody was a true family man who built his own house and adored his wife and kids. His favorite thing was to create memories with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Sage of Yankton, two children, Heather Sage of Yankton and Adam Sage of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Kaden and Braxton Sage; father and mother-in-law, Dr. Morris and Marcene Radack of Yankton; nine brothers and sisters: Bruce Sage of O'Neill, Nebraska; Roger Sage of Pierce, Nebraska; Norma (Steve) Kuehler of Crofton; Karen (David) Abbott of Yankton; Darrell Sage of Osmond, Nebraska; Dale Sage of Sioux Falls; Doyle (Brenda) Sage of Yankton; Jeff (Carmen) Sage of Bow Valley, Nebraska; and Nancy Sage of Yankton; two sisters-in-law, Kim (Erik) Johnson of Avon, South Dakota and Dr. Karen (Shawn) Harmon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother-in-law, David (Dawn) Radack of Robins, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousin, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Betty Sage.
