Frances "Fran" Robinette, age 76, of Hartington, Nebraska, died Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.
A Memorial Mass will be 10:30 AM on Monday, February 15, 2016, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton with Reverend Ken Lulf officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Nebraska. A gathering of friends and family is from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary and vigil service at 4:00 PM.
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and her Knights of the Round Table: Tom Schieffer, Max Rossiter, Tom Kelly, and Dan Kuchta.
Frances Kay Robinette was born December 14, 1939, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, to Cliff and Florence Van Houten. She grew up in Bloomfield and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1956. She then attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska and received her Teacher's Certificate. She married Donald Robinette on June 2, 1962 in Niobrara, Nebraska. She taught for a few years in Niobrara and for one year near Yankton, South Dakota. They moved to Fort Campbell, Kentucky while Don was in the service and later moved to Hartington, Nebraska. Fran operated a daycare out of her home for several years and later worked at Daylight Donuts in Hartington. She later began a catering service and would love to bake decorate cakes for special events.
Fran was a very kind hearted woman who was always in control. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington and served on the Ladies Guild at Holy Trinity for many years. She enjoyed reading, listening to audio books, cooking, baking, her flower garden, and her puppies. Fran loved spending time with her family on family vacations and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Donald of Hartington; daughter, Brenda (Dean) Dowling of Hartington; six grandchildren: Alexandrea (Tim), Whitney (Caleb), Charles, Andrew, Bradley, and Jessica; one great grandchild on the way; brother, Gareld Van Houten; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Paul and Bradley; daughter, Heather, granddaughter, Caroline; two brothers: Delmar and Richard; and sister, Charlotte.
