Delmer Eugene Provancha, age 90 of Lincoln, Nebraska and formerly of Hartington, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at South Lake Village in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington with Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial will be in the Hartington City Cemetery with military honors provided by the Hartington VFW Post 5283 and the Legion Riders. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Hartington VFW Post 5283.

Pallbearers will be David Sidak, Dale Sidak, Dean Sidak, Arlan Provancha, Jim Frizzell and Bob Steffen.

Delmer was born on August Grant's farm SW of Hartington on August 28, 1926 to Gilbert and Lucy (Grant) Provancha. He was educated in a one room school district 113 (Sunnybrook) through 8th grade. He did farm work with his parents and for neighbors and worked in the hay fields near Bassett Nebraska until he volunteered for the US Navy in December 1944. Delmer served on a minesweeper in the Pacific until he was honorably discharged in July of 1946. After being discharged he worked with his parents and other area farmers and went to GI school for agriculture. He married Ollie Frizzell (formally from Bassett) in Coleridge February 18, 1947. They resided and farmed at (2) different locations before moving to the farm 3 miles east of Hartington in 1957. He weighed corn for the government for many years and served on the honor guard for the Hartington VFW for over 50 years. He was an original member of the County Zoning Board and served for 12 years without missing a meeting. Delmer and Ollie retired and moved to Lincoln in 2012.

Delmer was baptized April 24, 1927 at the August Grant home and was confirmed on June 14, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran church where he was a lifelong member and was active in the church council and choir. He was a farmer at heart, working the land and tending to his cattle. Delmer enjoyed wood working and over the years made many toys for his children and grandchildren. He and Ollie travelled extensively with their children.

Delmer is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ollie of Lincoln. Son, Lowell and wife (Kathleen (Bargstadt) Provancha of Lincoln, daughter Mrs. Richard (Carol) Trapp of Cortland, Nebraska; brother, LaVern and wife Wilhelmina of Hallsville, Missouri; sister in law, Naomi Frizzell of Bassett, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren, Brenda (Trapp) Roberson of Firth, Ne; Kari (Provancha) Larry Wakefield of Lincoln; Lisa (Provancha) Chris Noecker of Lincoln; Brad (Katie) Provancha of Lincoln; 8 great grandchildren, Shelbi and Mallory Roberson, Madeline and Samuel Noecker, Jayson and Jenna Wakefield and Claire and Landon Provancha and his special friends, Bob and Mary Lou Steffen of Hartington.

He was preceded in death by parents, Gilbert and Lucy Provancha of Hartington and a nephew Louis Provancha.
