Roland E. "Rollie" Pochop, age 72, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Avera Majestic Bluffs Hospice House in Yankton.

Memorial services are 10:30 AM, on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Dani Jo Ninke officiating. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton with military honors performed by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791 and SD Army National Guard Funeral Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday.

Rollie was born December 6, 1944 in Plainview, Nebraska to Clarence and Madeline (Gudenkauf) Pochop. He grew up in Osmond, Nebraska and graduated Osmond High School in 1963. Rollie served in the National Guard until 1966. He then drove truck for over 40 years across all 48 states. Over the years, he worked for many trucking companies but spent the last several years with Joe Sparks at Bennett Trucking. Rollie loved his truck and would haul anything to anywhere and he would talk to everybody along the way. Rollie enjoyed collecting things and his motto was, "If one is good, three are better." He also loved all type of racing but especially loved going to NASCAR races.

Rollie is survived by his wife, Valon Pochop of Yankton; three sons: Joe Pochop of Yankton, John Pochop of Yankton and Mike (Deb) Goulter of Tea, SD; four daughters: Lisa Pochop of Yankton, Deb (Paul) Folkers of Norfolk, NE, Terri Dalton of San Diego, CA and Stacey Hanson of St. George, UT; five step children: Duane (Kathy) Ernster of Yankton, Wanda (Wes) Walter of Sioux Falls, Darin (Tricia) Ernster of Clinton, UT, Brenda Scheetz of Yankton and Jason Uthe of Yankton; 25 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie (Dan) O'Brien of Idaho.

Rollie was preceded in death by his parents; and step son, Justin Uthe.
