Kenneth C. Pinkelman, age 74 of Wynot, Nebraska died on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot with the Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Philip & James cemetery in St. James, NE. Visitation will be on Thursday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday morning at church one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Dean Ebbinga, Ryan Steffen, Nick Suing, Kyle Suing, Phil Pinkelman, Greg Kleinschmit, Jim Pinkelman, Jason Becker, and Mitchell Pinkelman.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Kenneth Charles was born on January 13, 1942, the oldest of 13 children on the family farm in rural Wynot, NE to Julius and Mildred (Duman) Pinkelman. He attended elementary school in St. James and high school at Wynot Public School. He was a member of St. James and later Sacred Heart parishes.
Kenny worked various heavy equipment jobs until 1966. He married Rose Ann DeBlauw on May 14, 1966 in Bow Valley, NE. He purchased his first caterpillar in 1966 and went into business on his own. He owned and operated Pinkelman Construction along with his wife until health issues forced him to stop in 2005.
KP was a gun collector and avid hunter with his son, brothers and close friends. He loved animals…to the degree that he would bring home the orphaned animals from job sites. Which included raccoons, owls, fox and even a porcupine. He especially loved his many dogs, cats, horses & mules, particularly his black horse Smokey and his favorite dogs Jake and Lucy. KP also loved antique tractors.
Kenny is survived by his wife Rose of Wynot; three children and spouses Debra (Tim) Harms and their children Isabelle and Samuel of Hartington; son Tony (Dulcie) Pinkelman of Douglas, Wyoming - their children Shelby and Jax of Douglas, WY, Joey Pinkelman of Wynot; daughter Connie (Greg) Husman - their children Jackson & Nykki of Yankton, SD; siblings Ruth Wilwerding of Davenport, IA, Barbara (Leon) Melstad of Hot Springs, SD, Robert (Linda) Pinkelman of Ponca, NE, Liz (Bill) Kleinschmit of Hartington, Mike (Janet) Pinkelman of Verdigre, NE, Dorothy (Don) DeBlauw of Healy, AK, Russel (Jeanie) Pinkelman of Delta Junction, AK, Donald (Darla) Pinkelman of Omaha, NE, Eugene Pinkelman of Wynot, John (Jean) Pinkelman of Fordyce, NE, Joan (Duane) Suing of Crofton; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Mildred Pinkelman; an infant sister Mary Frances; brother-in-law Gail Wilwerding, and sister-in-law Gerri Lynn Pinkelman.
