Arlis Rae Peitz, age 80 of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with Rev. Michael Schmitz and Rev. Timothy Lange officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery north of Crofton. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton is in charge arrangements.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Greg Peitz, Michael Joseph Peitz, Eric Peitz, Matt Peitz, Tom Peitz, Brandon Peitz and Michael Robert Peitz.
Arlis was born on December 25, 1934 at Crofton to Clarence John and Minnie (Cowell) Eickhoff. She grew up and lived in Crofton all of her life. She graduated from Mt. Marty High School in Yankton and received her teaching certificate from Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska. She taught country school near St. Helena, Nebraska for 2 years. Arlis married Jim Peitz on January 11, 1954 at Crofton and they made their home on a farm south of Crofton for 7 years. In 1961 they moved into Crofton where she stayed at home to raise her family.
Arlis was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Guild, Choir and Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, sewing and crocheting. She loved attending all of her children and grandchildren's sporting events and activities.
Arlis is survived by her husband, Jim of Crofton; 5 children and their spouses, Kathy Peitz of Yankton; Larry and Judy Peitz of Crofton; Don and Jean Peitz of Yankton; Rick Peitz of Rotunda, Florida; Kevin and Pam Peitz of Pierce, Nebraska and 11 grandchildren Greg, Michael Joseph, Eric, Matt, Tom, Ricky Jr., Kristin, Michael Robert, Brandon, Jordan, and Tiffani Peitz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Patty Peitz.
