Ruth P. Olson, age 98 and 8 months, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.
A memorial service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, June 13, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Pastor Derek Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Fish Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery in Harris, Minnesota. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church on Monday. The Wintz & Ray Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Ruth Priscilla Olson, daughter of Anna (Runstrom) Carlson and step-daughter of Martin Carlson was born October 10, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Priscilla grew up on a farm and attended country school in the Stark, Minnesota area before graduating from North Branch Minnesota High School. She married Victor Olson in 1938. They moved to Minneapolis where she and Victor had three children: Gary, Avis, and David and were members of Trinity Lutheran Church of Minnehaha Falls. She worked 50 years at Hennepin County Medical Center. She lived in Minneapolis until she was 90 years old when she moved in with her son David and his wife Lois. In her later years she enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite times were when she was able to gather all of her children and grandchildren for brunch for her famous roast beef. She was thoughtful, caring, supportive and loving. She will be missed greatly and remembered lovingly by her family and all who knew her.
Survivors include daughter in law, Carol (Gary) Olson of Lockhart, TX; daughter, Avis Laas of Minneapolis, MN; son, David (Lois) Olson of Yankton, SD; eight grandchildren: Troy Ogard of Minneapolis, MN; Ann (Matt) Bonpensiero of Gilbert, AZ; Timothy Olson of Lockhart, TX; Faith (Greg) Pope of Lockhart, TX; Jonathan (Kristen) Olson of Plymouth, MN; David Olson II "Chip" of Braham, MN; Anna ( Matt) Martinez of Kutztown, PA; and Elisabeth (Rob) Olson of Winnipeg, MB, Canada; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; son, Gary; and grandsons, Curtis Ogard Jr. and David Ogard.
