John T. Murray age 56 of Mitchell, SD died on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington, Nebraska with the Rev. Jeffery Loseke officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be at the St. Michael's Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at church on Wednesday one hour prior to services.

John Thomas Murray was born on February 16, 1957 in Coleridge, Nebraska to LaVern and Dorothy (Guenther) Murray. He grew up in Hartington, NE and graduated from Hartington High School. After high school he worked for Wilson Trailer Company in Yankton, SD for 10-15 years. John then worked in construction and as an electrician. John has been a resident of Mitchell, SD for over 20 years. He loved sailing his Hobie Cat sailboat.

John is survived by his mother, Dorothy Murray of Hartington, NE; eight brothers and sisters and their spouses Bev and Darrel Peitz of Hartington, NE, Bob Murray of Norfolk, NE, Anne and Howard Hoesing of Jackson, NE, Jeff Murray of Dayton, OH, Chuck and Lynette Murray of Fullerton, NE, Shane Murray of Raleigh, NC, Christie Murray of Wayne, NE, Paul Murray of St. Paul, MN; 19 nieces and nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Vern on 2/2/1981; brother Gerald V. "Badger" on 2/16/1996; a niece; and his dog Roscoe.
